Indigo Magic at GroWild, Inc Saturday August 7, 2021 9am-2pm
Discover the amazing transformations of indigo, the enchanting natural blue dye of centuries! On Saturday, August 7, fiber artist Jan Quarles will teach an introductory class on indigo and basic shibori techniques in the stunning setting of GroWild.
In class you’ll learn about indigo as a dye and how to make a small vat. You’ll explore folding and clamping (itajime) and wrapping (arashi) techniques and learn about other techniques. Your takeaway pieces will include two scarves and you’ll have plenty of fabric for practice. Your class fee includes two scarves, a yard of cotton fabric (for a bandana or cushion cover), and sampling fabrics as well as gloves, notes, a list of resources and extensive use of shibori tools. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dye on (indigo can be a messy process) and bring your lunch.
Please contact Jan Quarles with questions or to request a PayPal invoice to register for the class. Her email address is jan37129@yahoo.com. Enrollment is 12 students maximum.
